Teenage defender Subuloye trains with Chelsea first team ahead of Brentford clash
Teenage defender Tayo Subuloye is training with Chelsea's first team ahead of their Premier League meeting with Brentford on Friday night .
Born in England, Subuloye impressed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso with his performances during the Blues’ pre-season tour ahead of the start of the current campaign.
The youngster featured in two friendly matches during the pre-season, starting one of the encounters.
According to BBC’s Nizaar Kinsella, Subuloye trained with the Blues’ first team alongside youngsgers Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli and Reggie Watson since the start of the week.
Their involvement with the senior team was reportedly the reason they missed Chelsea Under-21s’ EFL Trophy defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in midweek.
Subuloye has been a key figure for the Blues’ youth team since joining the club at Under-12 level following a spell with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The young defender developed rapidly through the Blues’ academy, growing into a league-winning captain with the Under-16 team.
With Chelsea struggling defensively this campaign, Subuloye will be hoping to get an opportunity to make his senior debut and impress Xabi Alonso.
The Nigerian-eligible defender will now be keen to make the most of his opportunity with the first team as he looks to continue his development and establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
