The Boston Celtics are just over a month away from kicking off their new season with a very different roster than the one they had last year. The Celtics' offseason was highlighted by the trade of Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers, which drew immense backlash from the fanbase.
Now, Celtics star Jayson Tatum has spoken about his relationship with Brown during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
“There’s just so many different narratives and opinions… For me, I love that guy… You can’t talk about him without talking about me and vice versa,” he said, per Dan Patrick Show on X, formerly Twitter.
There were rumors of a potentially icy, or at least not particularly amicable, relationship between Tatum and Brown at times throughout their Celtics tenure, and the two haven't exactly gone out of their way to sing each other's praises in the months since the shocking trade went down.
However, there's no denying what the two were able to accomplish together on the court, with the Celtics winning the 2024 NBA Finals and making several other deep playoff runs over the years led by the two stars.
Boston fans were looking forward to what 2026-27 might bring with Brown at the peak of his powers and Tatum having had a full offseason healthy after rushing back from an Achilles injury last year, but they were cheated out of that opportunity when Brad Stevens sent Brown to the 76ers in a shocking move that brought back Paul George and draft compensation.
Brown is sure to get a loving reception from Boston when he returns to TD Garden this year when the Celtics host the 76ers.
