Liverpool appears to be planning ahead for the January transfer window, with reports claiming that a deal for a midfielder is already being worked on.

After a difficult summer transfer window, Liverpool is already looking ahead to the winter market as an opportunity to bolster the team further.
The Reds made moves to add to the flanks and the backline in recent months, but there are still questions about several other positions, most notably in midfield. Andoni Iraola has fielded plenty of queries over the balance of the central ranks, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Florian Wirtz all possessing similar skills and an attacking mindset.
That led to some calls for Liverpool to add a different profile in the middle, but that never came about, with much of the investment placed elsewhere.
However, that could all change in January, when the Merseyside outfit will have another chance to add some fresh faces, giving Iraola an opportunity to ask for reinforcements in the midfield.
With that in mind, Football Insider reports that Liverpool is already working on a deal to sign AS Monaco ace Lamine Camara in the winter market.
It's claimed that the Reds have stayed in contact with representatives over a move, with the 22-year-old expected to become available as soon as the transfer window opens once again.
It follows the transfer chaos for Camara earlier this month, as a late move from Chelsea collapsed, with Monaco seemingly pulling the plug on a deal at the last moment.

Liverpool was linked with a transfer for the midfielder during the summer, but decided to prioritize elsewhere, so the move to West London failing to materialize has handed the team an opportunity to go all-in for him next time out.
It remains to be seen whether that will come to fruition, however, with plenty of time between now and January. Iraola's midfield options could change, with academy options Trey Nyoni and James McConnell looking to earn a place in the team that could discourage a move.
There may be financial factors to consider for the Merseyside outfit as well, with the expenditure from this season's SCR rules still applying for both the summer and winter windows, meaning a move next summer may make more sense.
The status of Liverpool's cup exploits may be key as well. By January, the club will have a better idea of its standings in the Champions League, EFL Cup, and FA Cup, as well as the Premier League. If it looks as though help is needed, then another signing may make sense, but otherwise the plan could be to push on until the summer.
Camara is clearly a player of interest to Liverpool, but whether he ends up on Merseyside or not could depend on how the next few months pan out.
