49ERS TRY OUT OGUNJOBI
Defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi played with the Steelers from 2022-2024, and he was solid during that time. However, injuries slowed him down, so the Steelers released him in 2025. Ogunjobi signed with the Buffalo Bills, but he didn’t have much of an impact there. Ogunjobi remains a free agent.
However, Ogunjobi could return to the league soon. The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reported on Twitter/X that the San Francisco 49ers had brought Ogunjobi in for a tryout. The 49ers just beat the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, and they have Super Bowl aspirations. They’ve got a strong defensive line, but we’ll see if they add Ogunjobi as a depth piece.
The 49ers also tried out former Steeler Daniel Ekuale. Ekuale signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh before the 2025 season. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL against the Green Bay Packers, ending his season after seven games. If San Francisco doesn’t sign Ogunjobi, maybe they’ll pivot to Ekuale. Either way, it would be nice to see a former Steeler get his career back on track.
Among those who tried out for the 49ers today: veteran DT Larry Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi, 32, appeared in 10 games last season for the Bills. Also trying out:
TE Lawrence Cager
TE Tanner Conner
TE Jack Stoll
DT Daniel Ekuale

BROWNS SIGN WR
The Cleveland Browns had a terrible start to this season. They got blown out by the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-10. It could’ve been much worse, but the Jags took their foot off the gas in the second half. Still, the Browns don’t believe that their season is over.
They’ve added a piece to their team, too. NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared on Twitter that the Browns signed wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., who the Carolina Panthers released on Tuesday. The Panthers drafted Horn in the sixth round last year, but he had an ugly Week 1, including a muffed punt. Maybe he’ll have better success in Cleveland, though.

FORMER NBA PLAYERS WOULD PICK STEELERS FOR GAME
The Steelers aren’t short on freak athletes. Today’s NFL requires better athletes than ever, but the Steelers still have some unicorns. Take DK Metcalf, for example. Metcalf had a tough Week 1 performance, but the Steelers are still committed to getting him the ball. That’s because few players have his combination of size and speed.
Players from other leagues recognize that, too. On their All the Smoke podcast, former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson recently picked NFL players that they’d want on their pickup basketball teams. Both of them picked Steelers. Barnes chose Metcalf, while Jackson picked Jalen Ramsey. Both are good choices because they’re big and very athletic.
