Arsenal return to Premier League action this weekend as they prepare for a trip to Brighton on Saturday afternoon. The Gunners remain top of the table, ahead of Manchester City on goal difference, after winning all four games so far.

Mikel Arteta's side are also through to the next round of the Carabao Cup following a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town. The north London outfit will face Fleetwood Town in the fourth round after a Max Dowman brace plus goals from Noni Madueke and Mikel Merino dispatched their third round opponents with ease.

The Brighton trip will be Arsenal's final match before the international break begins. Several Gunners will represent their countries in Nations League matches as the domestic calendar takes a break until October.

Here, Mirror Football has the latest coming out of the Emirates Stadium.

Dowman offered exit route

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was reportedly interested in bringing Dowman to Luton Town on loan this season. Head scout Mick Harford told talkSPORT that the League One outfit, which Wilshere manages, were keen on giving the teenager more regular senior football opportunities.

Harford said: "I think Jack's asked him a couple of times, Mikel, but I don't think he'll be going out on loan."

Wilshere has had personal experience with Dowman after managing him in the Arsenal U18s. Harford highlighted the similarities between the two players - with Wilshere also a rising teenage talent in north London - and believes the 16-year-old has the capabilities to become a "superstar."

He added: "Jack was a wonderful footballer, he still is on the training ground. He started, not as a wide man, but as a wide man tucking in those little pockets, getting on the ball and creating stuff. Dowman looks more of a wide man than a pocket player, but a wonderful talent.

"I think he will get more game time and I think if he produces, I think Arteta will play him. I'm a believer in if you're ready, I don't care what age you are. If you're good enough, you'll play and I'm sure he will. He looks like he's going to be a superstar."

Klopp's huge favour

Ex-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given Havertz a chance to rest and prepare for Arsenal's hectic schedule during the international break. Klopp has called up the striker to represent Germany as they face the Netherlands away from home and host Greece in their first two fixtures.

However, a separate squad has been picked to take on Serbia at home, then travel to Greece at the tail end of the break. This will mean Havertz will have two weeks to prepare for the Premier League's return at the Emirates Stadium on October 10.

This duo squad is being called a revolutionary move by Klopp, as it offers more opportunities to other international prospects and lets those with congested fixture lists the time to rest up. Discussing his decision, the ex-Reds boss said: "Putting together the squad was fun.

"I want to get to know as many players as possible and get as many impressions of them as possible."

Arteta is sure to be grateful for having his main striker back earlier than many other international stars.
