Liverpool legends have been compared in the past, but Jamie Carragher was recently asked to pick one of Mohamed Salah or Luis Suarez to put in the current Reds team

Jamie Carragher has revealed whether he would rather have prime Mohamed Salah or prime Luis Suarez in the current Liverpool team, during a discussion about the Reds.
It follows a legacy being built by both players in recent years, though Salah's is more recent, after the winger waved farewell to Anfield this summer following a nine-year spell with the club. The 34-year-old winger made 442 appearances for Liverpool in his career, scoring 257 goals and assisting 123 goals.
That led to nine trophies on Merseyside, alongside four Golden Boot awards, and several other individual accolades. In comparison, Suarez only stayed at Anfield for three years, but made quite an impact. The striker made 133 appearances, scoring 82 goals and assisting his teammates 32 times.
Both players made their impact at different times, leaving a lasting effect on the club for the success that they achieved relative to their time there.
With that in mind, Carragher was asked by a fan on SportBible's YouTube channel about whether he would prefer Salah in his prime or Suarez in his prime in the current Liverpool team.
He responded: "Two of the best players we've ever had, really. If I say Suarez, I'm going to have all the Salah nutters on my case again.
"I think Suarez was a better player; I think Salah obviously got a few more numbers.
"Salah's numbers are unbelievable. But it's for the Liverpool team right now, isn't it...?

"I'd actually have prime Salah because we've got [Alexander] Isak up front. We have replaced Mo at all yet, so it would be prime Salah."
It may be a bold claim from Carragher to suggest that Suarez was a better player than Salah, considering the difference in their numbers and time spent at the club, though technical quality and impact will certainly be a factor.
The Reds are still looking for the natural replacement for the Egyptian King on the right flank, however, after he left earlier this year, with moves for the likes of Yan Diomande, Yankuba Minteh, and Ismaila Sarr falling through.
For now, Andoni Iraola has sided with Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz on that flank, though it remains to be seen whether either star can hit the same heights, or whether another signing may be needed in that position.
There may be some debate over who was better, but both Suarez and Salah left their mark on the club, with the next set of players looking to make a similar impact in their time at Anfield
