The Chelsea Chronicle have named the three Chelsea players who are in need of a strong performance tonight as the Blues face Brentford in the Premier League.
With this being the last game before the extended international break, Xabi Alonso will be desperate to see his side put an end to their run without a win.
Alonso has been coy about injury news leading up to this game, with Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra all having question marks over their availability.
Three Chelsea players under pressure to deliver vs Brentford
Looks a promising lineup, but once again shows our frailties in defence. We can play 3, 4, 5 or even 6 and a sweeper keeper at the back. Unfortunately when the average height of the squad is 6ft, how can really defend set pieces
There are some players who need to step up with a strong performance to remind the manager that they should be in his plans for this season. Let’s take a look at three of them…
Jorrel Hato
A very strong start of the season for Jorrel Hato was ended by a woeful mistake which led to Hull scoring in their first goal last weekend.
The Dutchman is being put under pressure by Pep Chavarria for a place in the starting side, and a start tonight is an opportunity he would need to make the most of.
There have always been questions over whether Hato fully suits the left wing-back role. Now is the time for him to prove that there is nothing to worry about.
Emi Martinez
Chelsea’s run without a clean sheet in the Premier League now extends back to January. This is not good enough for a side with their ambitions.
The whole idea behind signing Emi Martinez was to put to bed their run of goalkeeper woes with Robert Sanchez between the sticks, but Martinez has been far from perfect since joining the club.
Chelsea fans very quickly got on the Spaniard’s back when he was here, and no one wants the same conclusion with the 2022 World Cup winner.

Danny Welbeck
The Blues signed Danny Welbeck primarily for his experience in the dressing room, but with Pedro likely to miss today’s game his ability on the pitch is going to be called upon.
It is likely to be the Englishman’s first Premier League start for the Blues, after scoring three goals in his two appearances in the League Cup so far.
With Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson gone, Welbeck needs to show he will be more than suitable to come into the side whenever required in the big games this season.
