Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been handed a place in Thomas Tuchel's England national team squad for the upcoming three-week international break, along with current star Rio Ngumoha.
It comes after the pair were left out of the World Cup squad for the summer, which saw the Three Lions make it to the semifinals, before a late defeat at the hands of Argentina.
Alexander-Arnold was left out, despite an injury crisis persisting at right-back for the national team, coming as quite a blow after a difficult season with Real Madrid, which was heavily impacted by injuries and a lack of overall momentum.
This campaign has been tough for the defender too, with Jose Mourinho seemingly preferring Denzel Dumfries as his right-back of choice, but it seems as though Tuchel has seen enough qualities to recall Alexander-Arnold to the setup.
The 27-year-old has played once under the head coach before, featuring in a 1-0 win over Andorra in a friendly match back in March with a 26-minute cameo.
It remains to be seen how the former Liverpool star will get on, with Tino Livramento and Ezri Konsa most likely to battle him for a starting spot at right-back over the extended international break.

As for current Liverpool aces, Ngumoha has been handed his first official call-up to the England squad. The 18-year-old winger has already featured for Tuchel at international level, after an unexpected call to feature in the warm-up camp for the World Cup, despite the fact he wasn't going to the tournament.
An impressive display against New Zealand in a warm-up friendly saw some clamor for the youngster to be involved over the summer, but his lack of inclusion in the 55-man long list submitted to FIFA before the official squad announcement meant he couldn't feature, even if Tuchel wanted him to.
While Ngumoha enjoyed a breakout season last time out, this campaign has already seen him feature more heavily from the start, with Andoni Iraola clearly putting his faith in the star.
There has been a switch from the left flank to the right flank in that time, but his ability to play on either side could prove to be a useful asset for England's national team moving forward.
The Liverpool star looks set to be battling for a place in the team against the likes of Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze, Marcus Rashford, and Morgan Rogers.
There are four matches over the international break for both Alexander-Arnold and Ngumoha to make their mark, with Spain, Croatia, and a double-header against the Czech Republic awaiting in the UEFA Nations League.
It remains to be seen how the pair will get on, with a clear opportunity available to impress Tuchel, with just under two years until the European Championships in 2028.
