The Premier League heads into its fifth matchweek, and for FPL managers it could be good or bad news depending on how your season has started. With this being the final gameweek before the extended international break, managers will be desperate to rack up points and strengthen their position.
With that in mind, The Express have rounded up all the key injury news you need before locking in your team for GW5.
Joao Pedro
The Brazilian, who recently signed a new bumper deal at Chelsea, was withdrawn from the national squad earlier this week with what the federation described as an injury. Blues boss Xabi Alonso said there was a 'possibility' he could feature against Brentford on Friday night, however.
Ben White
The Arsenal defender appeared to suffer a groin injury during the match against Sunderland. He was seen grimacing and clutching his groin towards the end of the first half before being replaced by Jurrien Timber.
During Friday's press conference, Mikel Arteta said White, Jurrien Timber and Cristhian Mosquera are all 'willing to be part' of the upcoming training session. "Yeah, we have another session, and they are willing to be part of it, so we will see," the Gunners boss said.
Anthony Elanga
The winger's leg injury was confirmed by the Swedish FA, ruling him out of this month’s UEFA Nations League fixtures against Romania, Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle said on Thursday that Elanga was due to undergo an MRI scan, with the club expecting to 'get more clarity then.'
Luke Shaw
Speaking of United team news, Shaw missed the Champions League win over Sabah, the Manchester derby and this week’s Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton. The 31‑year‑old sat out those fixtures with a minor injury but is expected to return for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Fulham.

Jurrien Timber
There were initial concerns over Timber after he missed the opening three Premier League games and the Carabao Cup win against Ipswich Town. Although he was left out of Arteta’s squad for that tie, it was later confirmed his absence was planned. Arteta has since revealed Timber is expected to take part in another training session this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brighton.
Pedro Porro
Porro is set to return for Saturday's lunchtime kick‑off against Aston Villa after a strain ruled him out of the goalless draw with Everton and the Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool. The Spaniard has been managed carefully in the early weeks of the campaign following an intense World Cup run, but he is not dealing with a major issue and should be able to make regular starts later in the year.
