Mikel Arteta - Arsenal
January rarely arrives quietly for clubs that still feel a gap in attack. The summer window can close with business unfinished, and the first months of a season then decide whether that gap is a niggle or a problem that has to be solved.
Young forwards with a full Premier League campaign behind them sit at the centre of that conversation. They already know the league, they already have numbers, and they already come with a price that tells you how little their current club wants to sell.
That is why price tags matter as much as rumours. A valuation is not only a number. It is a message about whether a deal is even worth starting.

Arsenal are extremely keen on Bournemouth and France Under-21s forward Eli Junior Kroupi, according to Football London, but the Cherries would expect a huge fee. The 20-year-old scored 13 Premier League goals in his first season after joining from Lorient for around £10million.
It’s been reported Bournemouth want £100million. Other reports have put the asking price closer to £80million. Either way, the south-coast club are under no pressure to cash in while his contract runs to 2030.
A summer move never materialised. Kroupi suffered a foot injury in pre-season, had surgery and is expected to miss three to four months, with a return talked about for late October or November.

Football London reporter Tom Canton said the interest has not gone away. “Arsenal haven’t made a major signing in January for quite a while. Depending upon Junior Kroupi and his potential availability in January is one to keep an eye on,” he wrote.
“We reported at the start of the summer that Arsenal had a genuine interest in him and had he not got that injury, I would have been intrigued to see if Arsenal would have played a stronger card at the end of this window, rather than waiting on the [Julian] Alvarez situation to see if that was going to change. Interest is very real.”
Bournemouth’s public stance earlier in the year was just as firm. Chief Tiago Pinto said: “Junior Kroupi will not be leaving the club. His contract is for more than four years, there is no release clause in the contract, and he will not be going anywhere.”
Asked whether a huge bid would change that, Pinto added: “We will not sell Kroupi even if we receive offers of €100million (£85m).”
That leaves Arsenal with a familiar calculation. They want another attacker after missing out on some of their bigger summer targets, and Kroupi fits the profile of a young Premier League scorer. Bournemouth, though, can wait.
Until he is fit again and the winter window opens, the story is interest and a price, not a bid. The fee will decide whether this stays on the radar or never leaves the page.
