Arsenal - Brighton & Hove Albion
A midweek cup night can rewrite a weekend teamsheet before Friday even arrives. Players who finish 90 minutes under the lights are checked again in the morning, and those who leave the pitch early become the first names in the press-conference queue.
That rhythm is familiar across the Premier League in September. The league table still waits until Saturday, but the medical room decides how much of a squad a manager actually has.
A home game against the defending champions only sharpens the interest. Supporters want to know who is fit, who is carrying a knock, and whether a midweek injury has quietly removed a starter.

Fabian Hurzeler said Luka Vuskovic is expected to be an option for Brighton against Arsenal on Saturday. The £50million summer signing from Tottenham started all four Premier League games this season, plus the Conference League play-off win over Tromso, and played the full 90 minutes in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup comeback at Manchester United.
He picked up a knock at Old Trafford. Hurzeler, speaking on Friday, was still relaxed about the 24-hour turnaround.
“He’s young. He will recover fast and then he definitely will be an option for tomorrow,” the head coach said.
There was similar comfort over Jaouen Hadjam, the summer signing from Young Boys who was forced off around 15 minutes from the end of his debut against United and needed help to leave the pitch. Ferdi Kadioglu replaced him.

“He is able to play,” Hurzeler said of the left-back. “Besides that, there are no new injury concerns. Rutter made his comeback against United. He looked good.”
That is the short-term picture. The longer list is heavier.
Brighton are still without nine senior players. Stefanos Tzimas, Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma, Jack Hinshelwood, Mats Wieffer, Femi Azeez, Michael Svoboda, Zadok Yohanna and Evan Ferguson are all longer-term absentees.
Those gaps matter at the Amex. Brighton are trying to avoid a fourth straight league defeat to Arsenal and want a response to last season’s 1-0 home loss in the corresponding fixture.
Vuskovic’s expected availability keeps their new centre-back in the conversation. Hadjam being able to play would give Hurzeler a left-sided option he has barely used in the Premier League.
The rest of the missing group will not return for this one. Saturday’s question is whether the players who came through Old Trafford can last another 90 minutes against the champions, and whether Brighton’s patched-up side can finally change a recent habit against Arsenal.
