Lakers Reportedly Wanted Celtics $47M Offseason Addition Before Major Trade image

The Boston Celtics made one of the more surprising moves of the NBA offseason, making a deal for former New York Knicks starting center Mitchell Robinson. Robinson, who has been very good at times, has also dealt with injuries.
Robinson would probably be in a very different situation with the Knicks right now, but regardless, his price was too high, and because of the second apron, the Knicks didn't want to bring him back.
Robinson signing with the Celtics shocked many people around the league, as it kind of came out of nowhere.
However, it doesn't sound like Boston was his only suitor. According to Jovan Buha, who covers the Los Angeles Lakers, Robinson and the Lakers also had conversations. If it weren't for their move for Walker Kessler, Robinson could have ended up in Los Angeles.
"My understanding was like if they didn't get Walker Kessler, they were gonna go get Mitchell Robinson," Buha said.
"I don't think you want to rely on him [Robinson] as your starting center for 82 games," Buha added, H/T Heavy. "I don't know that his body can handle that."
It'll be interesting to see what kind of player Robinson is in Boston. He definitely has limitations as a player, and there were times with the Knicks during the postseason when he couldn't even be on the court because he couldn't make free throws or create offense.
With Joe Mazzulla being such a gifted offensive mind, it wouldn't be surprising to see a lot of that get figured out. However, that's the question that has to be answered.
