Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is expected to remain in Europe until Sept. 20 before returning to Los Angeles, according to SportKlub.si.
The Lakers will hold their traditional media day on Sept. 28, with training camp for the 2026-27 season officially beginning the next day.
Doncic has spent most of the summer in Slovenia, taking advantage of the longest basketball break of his professional career. He is expected to have gone 203 days between the end of last season and the start of the new campaign.
The 27-year-old has been working individually in Ljubljana with trainer Anze Macek, gradually increasing his basketball workload before returning to full team practices.
Doncic reportedly currently weighs around 105 kilograms (231 pounds), already close to his preferred playing weight before the Lakers even begin official preseason preparations.
Los Angeles listed him at 104 kg (230 lbs) last season.
Doncic organized Lakers minicamp in Slovenia
Luka also used his extended stay in Europe to bring several Lakers teammates together.
The five-time All-NBA guard organized an informal Lakers minicamp in Slovenia, allowing players to work out and spend time together before the organization's official training camp begins in Los Angeles.
Doncic decided not to play for the Slovenian national team this summer, instead prioritizing recovery, individual preparation, and additional time with his two daughters.
His extended offseason followed a difficult end to last season. A Grade 2 left hamstring strain ended Doncic's campaign and forced him to miss the entire playoffs.
