Tottenham and Aston Villa get things going in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, before other big clashes including Fulham vs Man United, Bournemouth vs Liverpool and Man City vs Sunderland take place.

After that, it’s full steam ahead into the international break, which will see England back in action for the first-time since their brutal World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina. Thomas Tuchel has named a strong squad to take on Spain, Croatia and Czechia, but there has been some disappointment for fans who had hoped to see Nottingham Forest sensation Morgan Gibbs-White selected.
Today’s rumours round-up begins at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal are looking to continue building their lead at the top of the table after a stellar start to the new season. According to Team Talk, the reigning Premier League champions are also working behind the scenes on recruitment, with Sturm Graz wonderkid Luca Weinhandl said to be on their radar.
The report says that the Gunners have made “initial contacts” with the 17-year-old’s club over a potential move, although it’s stressed that talks aren’t at an advanced stage. He’s said to hold a £20m price tag, while Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion are also believed to be tracking the Austrian gem.
The 3AM Verdict: Oddly, we coveredan almost identical story to this from a similar publication the day before. Either the player’s agent is working overtime, or there’s genuine interest there. We’ll let you make up your own mind on that one. Weinhandl is clearly a promising young player, and it’ll be interest to see how long he remains in Austria.

Next, we’re nipping up to St. James’ Park, where Newcastle United endured a hectic summer where they lost a number of key players and a top manager in Eddie Howe. They also said farewell, at least for now, to striker Nick Woltemade, who went out on loan to Juventus after an underwhelming first season at the club in which he scored just eight league goals.
Football Insider say that Newcastle, who spent £51m to sign forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, are ready to let Woltemade leave on a permanent basis next summer. They suggest that a strong season at Juventus could see them lured into making a bid, while Bayern Munich could also throw their hat into the ring and bring him back to the Bundesliga.
The 3AM Verdict: It would be quite something for Newcastle to cut their losses on a £69m signing after just one poor season. It’s worth noting that he wasn’t even playing in his natural position for a fair chunk of it, too. The Magpies would do well to keep a close eye on him this season in the hope he has a revival. If not, they’ll be hard push to get a fee anywhere close to what they paid for him in 2025.

Finishing things up, we’re hopping aboard a plane to Spain’s capital city, where Real Madrid are, as ever, pondering big-money transfers. That’s according to Goal, who reckon Los Blancos are becoming keen admirers of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. They say the Spanish giants have scouted the one-cap England international, as they look to bring in a new centre-back.
It’s claimed that Everton are “holding out” for a mega fee, and have “slapped a price tag” of around £80m on the 24-year-old centre-back. Real are believed to be somewhat perturbed by the Toffees’ rumoured demands, which could potentially open the door to Manchester United, who are also thought to be keen admirers of Branthwaite’s abilities.
The 3AM Verdict: Branthwaite had rotten luck with injuries last season, missing most of it with a hamstring problem. Everton will be delighted to have their star man back, but will be mindful that they have an opportunity to cash in and profit significantly from the sale of a homegrown player. Real Madrid almost always find a way to get their man, but we suspect he’ll end up at Old Trafford.
