Wayne Rooney's son insists his footballing father is the most famous face in the family. Klay, who is the Rooneys' second-oldest boy, brutally claimed that "my mum is only known" in the celebrity hierarchy due to her husband's Premier League escapades.

The former Manchester United star and his family are set to star in a new documentary on Disney+, The Real Rooneys, being released on Thursday, September 24. This TV series will follow the Rooney clan as they navigate the challenges of being "one of Britain's most famous families."

In the trailer for the show, Rooney is seen getting an earful from wife Coleen after he stayed out late with friends while on holiday. In the clip, the media personality said: "It’s meant to be a family holiday. You can’t keep doing what you do."

It then cuts to the ex-Everton star who sheepishly says: "The doghouse manual… I’m on my third book."

However, one of the highlights from the preview of The Real Rooneys was Klay's cameo, where he is asked: "Who’s more famous? Mum or dad?"

The 13-year-old replied: "My dad. My mum is only known because of my dad," which could land the youngster in a similar "doghouse" to his father.

Coleen and Wayne first met in 1998 as kids before becoming teenage sweethearts, as the young attacker got his break into Everton's senior team. They later got engaged in 2003 and tied the knot five years later as Coleen became one of the most famous WAGs of the early 2000s.

The couple have four sons - United youth star Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass - and have allowed the TV cameras into their lives to showcase the family dynamic. While Wayne is best known for his Premier League career - where he won five titles, the Europa League and Champions League - Coleen is more of a reality TV celebrity.

In 2024, the 40-year-old came second in the 24th series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and is also a published author. However, her court case against Jamie Vardy's partner, Rebekah, made the most headlines for Coleen.

Disney+ also released a drama documentary about the case - aptly called Wagatha Christie - from her point of view, which was called Vardy v Rooney.
