The Arsenal star is turning heads and Ally McCoist has made a Rangers suggestion.
Ally McCoist has backed a Rangers move for one Arsenal star Mikel Arteta is continually assessing exits for.
16-year-old Max Dowman scored twice in the Carabao Cup midweek against Ipswich Town. The creative midfielder featured 13 times for ex-Rangers star Arteta last season as the Gunners claimed Premier League glory but his double against the Tractor Boys marked his first appearance this term. Arteta says Arsenal will assess loan options for Dowman every six months, who became the youngest player to score in Premier League history and for the Emirates Stadium outfit during campaign 25/26, and McCoist reckons Rangers would be wise to ask a transfer question.

He said on talkSPORT when asked about a possible move to the Premiership for Dowman: “Aye, I would take him, 100% I’d take him at Ibrox. I would (loan him out). Yes, I would. I wouldn’t have a problem with it if Mikel Arteta thought it was the best thing for his development.

“Had a conversation before about I remember Phil Foden. I thought it had been the right thing for him to go out. It wasn’t because Pep kept him and then it went on to have a fantastic period after that. So, I can understand the pros and cons of both, but I would not certainly have a problem.
“I would be okay for him to go and get some serious game time. I don’t see I don’t see him getting a lot of game time.”
Arteta said on the possibility of a loan for Dowman: "We will evaluate every six months where we are and what is the best thing for him to do and then make the right decision. It depends on a lot of factors. What he needs, and what the team needs as well, the availability we have in the squad, the minutes that he is playing and the qualities of those minutes.
"We have to be open, but now the focus is to be here and to impact the team. We haven't really listened to any of the possibilities because we were crystal clear that we wanted to have Max in the squad, that we wanted him to be part of the pre-season and then start to see where we are from there . There have been many cases of that age when they have gone out and been successful and others not.

Mikel Arteta on Max Dowman
"In my particular case, I was 17 when I went to PSG. It depends on the atmosphere that you find there, and how much the coach believes in you as to whether you go there just to be part of a squad or play minutes. Which country, it depends. But now he is in a good place, let's keep him here.
"The best way to knock on the door is to do it on the pitch, not in the office. Then you just leave out the arguments. When a player delivers constantly on the pitch, every single day in training, that's the best way, that's the best signal for the manager. That's the best signal for his team-mates, too. And what Max did the other day, alongside all the other players as well that haven't played many minutes this season, was really impressive."
