Victor Munoz says he is not worried about the prospect of challenging £123m Bradley Barcola for a place in the Liverpool team this season.

‌

And the Spanish World Cup winner says the "world-class" level of Andoni Iraola's squad is to be expected at a club the size of the 20-time champions as the Reds look to sign off for the international break with a win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

‌

Munoz signed for the Reds in June when his £34.5m release clause was triggered at Osasuna before he was joined by Barcola in late August, when the club reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain following summer-long talks for the France international.

‌

Barcola became the second most expensive footballer in Anfield history when he traded PSG for Anfield at the end of last month but La Roja international, Munoz, says elite-level talent is simply par for the course at Liverpool as he opened up on his aims for the campaign in an interview with Spanish publication AS.

"The fact that the best players come is a warning that we all have to demand more from ourselves," Munoz said.

"For the team, his (Barcola) arrival is very good and we know that the competition forces us to give our best every day in every training session.

"Everyone here is world-class. It is a joy to be able to share training sessions and matches with them. They are all so good that it is impossible for me to choose just one.

"I feel very loved here in the short time I have been here. Everyone is being exceptional to me and that makes me feel very happy.

"I came with a lot of desire and enthusiasm and hoping that everything would go well. Luckily it is being like this and now it is time to continue in the same way.

"Anyway, I don't think too much about the future and try to take it step by step every day."

Munoz added: "In the short term my goal is to settle in Liverpool and win a title.

"But as in life you have to move forward and look for new goals maybe next year I will be able to tell you something different.

"My thing is perseverance. It is one of my great virtues. I am working day by day, I do not set long-term goals and that, in large part, is what has allowed me to get where I am now."
