**Mikel Arteta** addressed attacking options at **Arsenal** after midweek action in the **Carabao Cup**.
The _Gunners_ grabbed a 4-2 win over **Ipswich Town** in the third round of the cup competition thanks to a **Max Dowman** brace as well as goals from **Noni Madueke** and **Mikel Merino** by the hour mark.
·**‘That's the best way to knock on the door’**
-----------------------------------------------
Dowman became the first 16-year-old since **Wayne Rooney** in 2002 to score two goals for a **Premier League** side in a game in any competition. He is going the right wat about getting more playing time.
_“That's the best way to knock on the door - to do it on the pitch, not in the office. With that you're just left out of arguments when a player delivers constantly on the pitch every single day in training._
_“That's the best way, that's the best signal for the manager, that's the best signal for his teammates as well that they will demand that player play and what Max did the other day amongst all the players as well that haven't played that many minutes, was really impressive.”_
·**‘My job is to try find those connections’**
----------------------------------------------
Less impressive was **Viktor Gyokeres**, who also failed to register a single shot against **Napoli**. He has not started a single **Premier League** game this campaign, sitting second in the pecking order behind **Kai Havertz**. However, Arteta recognises the value he has to the squad for the season.
_“Especially in the_ **_Premier League_**_, \[Viktor\] hasn’t played that many minutes, but last week in Napoli he played and had a good game._
_“That’s about moments as well, we need to give him all the support and confidence he needs because we know the player we have, the capacity he has to score goals and what he can give to the team._
_“The team are doing certain different things this season. But it’s not just for Viktor; it’s for everybody - it’s the constant evolution of the player and team. Our job, especially my job, is to try to fit that in and find those connections and level of confidence for the player to give his best for the team.”_
**Eberechi Eze** also did not dazzle in his minutes against Ipswich in midweek, but Arteta continues to feel that he has the quality to be a worthwhile option in rotation with **Christos Tzolis** on the left wing.
_“He's always played there in his career; that's where his biggest moments in his career and highlights have come, and it's a place he feels very comfortable. He can occupy different spaces through them but it's the space that generally he has created big moments for previous clubs to win matches.”_
