TreVeyon Henderson missed Week 1 with an ankle injury, but the second-year running back should suit up for Week 2. Selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Ohio State product had an up-and-down rookie season but had a knack of churning out big plays. Appearing in all 17 games while making four starts, Henderson finished his rookie season with 911 rushing yards, 221 receiving yards, and a combined 10 touchdowns. While he missed Week 1’s Super Bowl rematch, the running back recently said he’ll play against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

TreVeyon Henderson Injury Update: Patriots RB Expected to Play

While the Patriots are a better team with TreVeyon Henderson on the field, don’t expect him to see a starter’s workload against the Steelers. Prior to Week 1, ESPN’s Mike Reiss said that “Stevenson would have been the clear-cut starter regardless,” as he’s far more effective in pass protection and can consistently read blocks and make the right decision behind the offensive line. While Henderson is the more explosive player, he wouldn’t have entered the season as anything more than a complementary player. All this is to say that if you drafted Henderson in fantasy football, you shouldn’t start him.

Aside from Stevenson, the only other running back on the roster is Corey Kiner. A Cincinnati product, Kiner entered the league as an undrafted free agent in the 2025 NFL Draft and spent the previous season bouncing around practice squads. He ultimately appeared in four games for the Arizona Cardinals and recorded 58 yards on 12 rushing attempts. The team also has Lan Larison on the practice squad, and he could earn a promotion if TreVeyon Henderson is unable to suit up.
