Ladd McConkey

Ladd McConkey suffered a rib injury in the Chargers Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be ready for Week 2. Originally entering the league as a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Georgia product took the league by storm and immeidately established himself as one of Justin Herbert’s most reliable targets. Starting in 14 games while making 16 appearances, the wideout finished his inaugural campaign with 82 receptions for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns on 112 targets. While he wasn’t quite as effective in Year 2, he remained a key part of the offense.
Now entering Week 2, Ladd McConkey has practiced in limited capacity and is officially questionable for the divisional showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders. A lot can happen between now and Sunday, but it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not the wide receiver will suit up.

Ladd McConkey Injury Update: Chargers WR Questionable For Week 2
Even with the rib injury, Ladd McConkey led the Chargers in Week 1. While the team couldn’t pull off the win, the third-year wideout still had a respectable performance and recorded five receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. If he cannot play, the team will likely turn to former first-round pick Quentin Johnston as the top option in the passing attack. While the wideout has yet to live up to his draft capital, he overcame a slow start to his career and established himself as a solid, yet unspectacular, weapon at the NFL level.
There’s no such thing as a ‘must-win’ game in Week 2, but the Chargers will face a difficult road to the playoffs if they cannot win without Ladd McConkey. The team is already 0-1 in a tough division, and a divisional loss could lead to tough tiebreaker results down the road. While the Raiders won in Week 1, this is still a relatively untalented team, and Los Angeles should have the talent to pull off the win, with or without McConkey.
