**England manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Arsenal fullback Ben White did not make the squad due to injury.**
The defender was forced off at halftime against Sunderland last weekend with a groin problem, and he was subsequently absent for the 4-2 win over Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Asked about White’s absence from his squad in a press conference on Friday morning, Tuchel said:
“Ben White pulled out with an injury after a fantastic start to the season with Arsenal. He’s not available now – which has been the story with Ben.”
Has Tuchel contradicted Arteta?
-------------------------------
The England head coach’s remarks come shortly after Mikel Arteta refused to rule out White from facing his former club [**Brighton**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-predicted-lineup-vs-brighton-2/).
It should be pointed out, though, that Arteta doesn’t like to reveal team news before games. His preference is to be as vague as possible to avoid giving away too much to the opposition.
Sometimes, though, information does leak out from other sources – this time from Tuchel – and it can leave Arteta looking a bit silly.
Other Arsenal injury news
-------------------------
In addition to White, Arteta has also been coy on the fitness of Cristhian Mosquera (muscular) and Piero Hincapie (knock).
Mosquera has missed the last four matches after sustaining his injury in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa last month. Hincapie, meanwhile, has only been sidelined for one game (Ipswich) so far.
One player we know won’t be featuring anytime soon is William Saliba. The Frenchman has already been unavailable for two months, and there is a decent chance that he will be out for several more.
The decision was made not to undergo surgery on a chronic back problem, but he hasn’t even started light gym work yet. For that reason, we can’t know for sure when he will return to action.
