Erik Farkas topped a week in which he signed a new deal with his third goal of the season, as Liverpool U18s drew 3-3 away at Derby U18s.

With Erik putting pen to paper on his first professional contract, and his older brother, Patrik, rejoining the Reds from Blackburn, it has been a great week for the Farkas family.

While Patrik was an unused substitute for the under-21s, Erik continued his excellent start to the season, scoring as Liverpool U18s twice came from behind to draw with Derby.

Farkas played as the No. 10, with exciting AJ Yeguo to his left and Zak Coxon up front.

Behind them was the much-talked-about midfield duo of Haydn Murray-Holme and Luca Eden – the latter is still just 15 years old.

Theo Olofingbuaro put the hosts ahead after 29 minutes and Joseph Connor doubled the lead just before half time, following up a set-piece to score.

Despite the two-goal deficit, the Reds’ heads didn’t go down, a trend to which followers of the Liverpool U18 team are well accustomed.

Farkas got the first goal back, scoring from the left side of the box, before Eden netted the second four minutes later.

Derby’s Remi Harvey then put the Rams back in front, but their advantage didn’t last long.

Coxon soon struck back, netting his second goal of the campaign after being set up by Eden just inside the penalty area.

In the absence of injured captain and forward Finn Inglethorpe, the Wirralian attacker, Coxon, has stepped up with no problems in recent weeks, scoring twice and providing two assists.

Due to the extended international break, Liverpool U18s must now wait until October 10 for their next ‘competitive’ game, against Stoke, but we expect there to be friendlies to keep them ticking over in the meantime.

Liverpool U18s: Hilditch; Conde, Owen, Clarke, Dixon (Garin 61′); Murray-Holme, Eden; Huth, E. Farkas (Phillips 87′), Yeguo; Coxon

Subs not used: Smith, Moran, Garan, Hickman.
