Liverpool intensively chasing£77.1m World Cup ace who has"absolutely everything"

**Liverpool are looking at Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha as an option to bring in soon, according to a new transfer claim.**

The Reds’ failure to bring in a single midfielder in the summer transfer window left many aghast, and it is looking like a poor decision in the opening weeks of this season.

Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai aren’t working as a double pivot, leading to a lack of balance, and Trey Nyoni feels like the only natural No.6 in Liverpool’s squad, which is far from ideal.

It is an area of the pitch that has to be looked at in 2027, both in January and the summer, and [_Fussball News_](https://fussball-news.de/2026/09/18/transfer-angriff-auf-nmecha-bvb-legt-mega-preisschild-fest/) now report that they are “intensively involved” with Dortmund when it comes to Nmecha.

The Reds are believed to admire his “dynamism and his qualities as a box-to-box player”, and while “no concrete negotiations” have taken place, a January transfer is being eyed. The 25-year-old could cost as much as £77.1m, and Manchester City are also in the mix.

**Could Felix Nmecha help transform Liverpool’s midfield?**

-----------------------------------------------------------

Nmecha showed what he is capable of during the 2026 World Cup, scoring for a Germany side that ultimately underperformed, and being hailed by [Gary Neville](https://bulinews.com/gary-neville-hails-outstanding-germany-midfielder-amid-manchester-united-interest) during the tournament:

_“The more he plays like he did the other night, the more expensive he’ll get. He looked outstanding the other night. It looked like he had absolutely everything.”_

It is easy to see the qualities that Nmecha would bring to Liverpool’s midfield, with quality on the ball and physicality both standing out in his game, not dissimilar to Gravenberch.

But again, the German wouldn’t be the natural defence-minded player that the Reds crave in the middle of the park, possibly lacking the discipline to sit deep and give the back-line protection.

For that reason, Liverpool would be wise to look at different options, which is nothing against Nmecha, who just isn’t the profile of footballer they need right now.

Monaco’s Lamine Camara continues to stand out as a fantastic choice, while Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton also has great potential, but the English premium that would come with him would make him more expensive.
