Lemon’s NFL career is off to a pretty discouraging start, statistically. In two games of play, including the final preseason game, Makai Lemon has six catches for -2 yards. Negative two. His usage has been perplexing and the likely reason is the Eagles are getting his feet wet as he comes back from injury.
While no one is asking for a six catch, 120 yard, two touchdown game, the Eagles do need more out of Lemon considering how many snaps he got in the Washington game. He cannot just be a cardio king out there. Hopefully he is healthier, and more up to speed, so the Eagles can get him involved in a more traditional way instead of just running him on screens and sweeps.
Landon Dickerson is on IR, and will be there for at least the next four weeks. In the meantime, signs are pointing to Drew Kendall filling in at that left guard spot. Dickerson being out puts day three rookie Micah Morris in a position where he could be the next man up… eventually.
There’s Willie Lampkin, who has become something of a fan favorite. Lampkin absolutely could play guard and showed in preseason he has potential to play at a high level. But if the Eagles go to Lampkin, Micah Morris has to be ready to suit up. The Eagles offensive line has endured a lot of wear and tear over the last few years and it really feels like it is catching up to them. The young guys need to be ready, Micah Morris included.
