The Minnesota Vikings have another NFC North test they’ll try to pass on Sunday afternoon, this time on the road against the Chicago Bears.
Despite some hope early in the week, QB Kyler Murray won’t play (concussion). Thus, all eyes will be on backup Carson Wentz throughout the day. The 33-year-old is scheduled to make his sixth start under center for the MN Vikings.
Murray isn’t the only key piece missing from the Vikings’ offense this week. Newly acquired WR3, Jauan Jennings, is dealing with a death in the family and hasn’t been at practice all week. Keep an eye out for the pregame injury report tomorrow, as well, after right tackle Brian O’Neill was listed as questionable Friday.
Vikings elevate two players from practice squad, including Dillon Bell
In the meantime, Minnesota is elevating WR Dillon Bell and LB Kyle Van Noy from the practice squad for tomorrow’s matchup against the Bears, the team announced Saturday.

It will be the first time Bell has been active, after he played his way onto the radar this summer. During the preseason, Bell played all three games, catching 7 passes for 59 yards. He was targeted 16 times.
Bell played his college ball at the University of Georgia, where he made an immediate impact as a freshman, catching 20 passes in 2022 for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns, as part of the a National Championship-winning Bulldogs team.
In total, Bell finished his career at Georgia with 1,269 yards and 11 interceptions, following a disappointing senior season where he caught just 27 passes for 268 yards and 2 touchdowns — a slip that likely cost him a spot in April’s draft.
Kyle Van Noy lands second-straight elevation… and start?
Van Noy is a different story. The 35-year-old signed right before the start of the season, the veteran linebacker is only biding his time on the practice squad, until the Vikings are forced to either cut him or add him to the 53-man roster in a couple of weeks.
Given his elevated status again for week 2, combined with the fact that he started (per Pro Football Reference) and played nearly 40% (25) of Minnesota’s defensive snaps last week against the Packers, it’s probably safe to assume he’s sticking around for the rest of the season. This, despite only putting 1 tackle on the stat sheet.
Flores last year got Dallas Turner on the field as a 3rd edge alongside Greenard and Van Ginkel by lining him up inside AVG, as a quasi DE
Greenard also had some snaps like that (vs Steelers) and Tyler Batty (vs Chargers)
