The Miami Heat will be targeting a “needle-moving player” next, with the team keeping their final roster spot open for that potential addition ahead of the new NBA season.

The Miami Heat appear to be all set heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Miami plans to leave one roster spot open instead of filling out their 15-man roster.
The Heat intends to tap a potential impact player to fill that vacant slot.
"The Heat plans to keep the 15th roster spot open for a while, in case a needle-moving player becomes available in free agency," the report indicated.

The Miami Heat currently have 14 players on their roster signed on standard deals.
The franchise delivered its most productive offseason in recent years. Headlined by the blockbuster acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Pat Riley and the team's front office pulled a plethora of moves to deepen their roster.
The Heat have acquired Bobby Portis, Tim Hardaway Jr., Nick Richards, and Klay Thompson. They also locked Pelle Larsson, Andrew Wiggins, and Simone Fontecchio to new deals.
Looking to make a deep playoff run and compete for an NBA championship next season, Miami will remain on the lookout for an available player who can help them win.
