Houston Texans Star Expected to Miss Multiple Games After Week 1 Injury 1

The Houston Texans are looking for the offense to pick up the pace for the 2026 season. The team lost in Week 1, but the offense looked better than it did to end the 2025 season. One of the reasons why is that was is the fact that wide receiver Nico Collins stepped up. However, he left Week 1 with an injury. Let’s take a closer look at the latest report and what it means for the Houston Texans going forward.

The Texans are one of the contenders in the AFC, but they are going to be in a tough spot heading into Week 2.

KPRC2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson is reporting that Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring injury. As a result, it is expected he will miss both the Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Week 3 road game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Collins has been one of the most reliable wide receivers over the last handful of seasons. The two-time Pro Bowler finished Week 1 with seven catches on 10 targets for 75 yards (10.7 yards per reception) with a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills. Losing their top pass-catcher is going to make things a bit more difficult.

The Houston Texans have a few options for who can fill the shoes as a wide receiver as below are the players on the roster and practice squad at the position:

Kayshon Boutte

Xavier Hutchinson

Jaylin Noel

Jared Wayne

Lewis Bond

Josh Kelly

Daniel Sobkowicz

Mitchell Tinsley

Bryce Oliver

There is a bright side to the injury, as it seems that Collins will not be placed on injured reserve. The potential return for Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys is something that will certainly help the Texans. However, it can be difficult for the offense to continue being a threat without arguably their best offensive player for possibly multiple games. It will be intriguing to see how the Houston Texans look without Collins on the field making big plays.
