It took a staggering number of calls for the Minnesota Timberwolves to secure the commitment of Jonathan Kuminga this offseason.
In a sit-down interview for the Minnesota Star-Tribune, Timberwolves general manager Matt Lloyd revealed that he conducted 94 calls to Kuminga's camp throughout the overall signing process.
"The opportunity came up to sign Jonathan Kuminga, which again was the product of many, many phone calls and a lot of time investment," Lloyd shared.
"My wife asked me at one point, 'How many times has he called you?' She was referencing Jonathan Kuminga's agent. 'How many times have you been on the phone with him since the middle of July?' So I said, 'Okay, I will look, and we went through my phone,' and we had 94 phone calls between July 15th to the day we signed Jonathan."

Jonathan Kuminga joins Timberwolves
Jonathan Kuminga signed a two-year, $13 million deal to join the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason.
Kuminga has entered unrestricted free agency after the Atlanta Hawks waived his team option for the next 2026-27 season.
Across 36 games last season for the Hawks and the Golden State Warriors, Kuminga averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 46.3% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc.

According to Matt Lloyd, Anthony Edwards was truly pivotal in the Minnesota Timberwolves' successful signing of Jonathan Kuminga.
The NBA superstar led the T-Wolves' pitch for Kuminga, as the young forward chose Minnesota over the reported lucrative offer made by the Los Angeles Lakers.
"Anthony Edwards was really instrumental in recruiting him to come here," the Wolves GM said. "We had several conversations with him, his representatives, and from Chris Finch to Tim Connelly to Alonzo Gee, who is on our staff, everything just came together."
