Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Arsenal are “looking at” signing Rio Ngumoha, with the Reds’ stance on the matter revealed by journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 18-year-old hasn’t yet made a flying start to the 2026/27 season, but he is still an enormous talent with a bright future, being named in England’s squad for the upcoming internationals.
Some rumours have suggested Ngumoha could leave Liverpool, however, with plenty of big clubs circling, but O’Rourke has told Football Insider that despite Arsenal’s interest, the teenager is likely going nowhere:
“It’s no surprise that Arsenal are looking at Rio Ngumoha and are interested in him. I’m sure a number of top clubs will be interested in the winger. Bayern Munich were linked in the summer transfer window, but look, Liverpool are pretty relaxed about this whole situation.
“When you get top young players like this, they’re always going to attract interest from other clubs, but Liverpool are confident that his long-term future will be at Anfield.”
Liverpool must keep hold of Rio Ngumoha at all costs
Liverpool cannot even entertain the idea of letting Ngumoha leave the club any time soon, considering he is one of their most exciting young players in years.
The winger is dazzling when in full flow, and is now a genuine option for Andoni Iraola, with Jamie Redknapp waxing lyrical over his ability in the recent past:
“I’d watched him since he was seven or eight years of age, he’s got this God-given talent, pace, when he picks up the ball, I’ve never seen anyone with such fast feet. That was the one thing I thought he could improve, but certainly at Liverpool with his finishing, he’s doing that, he’s getting better, he’s getting end product.”
Liverpool will be aware that Ngumoha will want regular football, with his head potentially being turned if that doesn’t happen, and there is no reason why that won’t be the case this season.
Granted, Bradley Barcola has come in as the first choice on the left wing, but both he and Ngumoha can play on the right, too, and there will be plenty of opportunities across four competitions.
