The [Patriots](https://nesn.com/new-england-patriots) and Steelers will be missing important pieces of their defensive units during Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium.
New England cornerback Carlton Davis has been downgraded to out with a neck injury. Davis played in all 17 games last season for the Patriots, and he had three tackles (two solo) in a Week 1 loss to the Seahawks.
Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has pushed back Joey Porter Jr.'s season debut at least one more week. The 26-year-old cornerback is still dealing with a back injury, and he is considering getting a second opinion, [according to ESPN's Adam Schefter](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/49982020/sources-steelers-eye-potential-week-3-joey-porter-jr).
