Chelsea fans are crying out for Behdad Eghbali and Clearlake to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in the January window – and Jamie Carragher thinks he knows which club he will end up joining.
Scott remained at Bournemouth despite refusing to sign a new contract at The Vitality. As things stand, the called up England star is out of contract at Bournemouth in June 2028 – meaning his future is a doubt.
Chelsea tabled a £64m bid for Scott in the summer, and interest has remained in the Bournemouth man now that Enzo Fernandez has left, and Chelsea failed to sign Monaco’s Lamine Camara on deadline day.

Chelsea fans would love Scott, but Carragher backs Liverpool
Liverpool, like plenty of other clubs including Chelsea and Man United, were constantly linked with Scott during the summer. Scott’s celebration against Everton suggested loyalty to Bournemouth’s supporters.
However, that won’t last forever. Scott will outgrow Bournemouth if he hasn’t done so already, and the biggest outfits in Europe will be after his signature. Chelsea fans are hopeful that Eghbali can do a deal.

But Jamie Carragher thinks the presence of his former manager, Andoni Iraola, will see Liverpool get the Bournemouth man. He told Sky Sports over the weekend: “I think he’s a wonderful player.
“There was a lot of interest in him in the summer and because Liverpool have a former Bournemouth manager, you almost think: will there be a link or will there be a couple of players moving that way?
“I thought Rayan was fantastic last season as well. It will be really good for him to get a goal because he probably hasn’t been himself at the start of the season. There’s some fantastic players at Bournemouth.”
Alex Scott has got to be the main priority for Chelsea now
If the post-window Chelsea has taught us anything, it is that the Blues are lacking in attacking midfield. They have no replacement for Fernandez, and no cover for both Cole Palmer or Morgan Rogers.
They need an attacking midfielder that can do a bit of both, play as an eight and score goals from deep or replace Rogers and Palmer when injured. Scott is the perfect player for those positions right now.
Having had £64m rejected in the summer, Chelsea will have to pay a big price if they are to sign Scott in January – despite his contract winding down. Alan Shearer thinks Scott will eventually leave for £100m.
