Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams Leaves Week 2 Game with Non-Contact Injury 1
The Chicago Bears are looking to bring that excitement that the offense did in Week 1, as the team has a goal of being the highest-scoring offense of all time. However, injuries can be a major concern for the team’s ability to dominate. One of the Chicago Bears’ most important players has suffered a non-contact injury. Let’s take a closer look at who it is and what we know at this point.

The Chicago Bears are struggling offensively in Week 2 after scoring 59 points in Week 1. However, an injury is critical to what to expect from them going forward. Midway through the fourth quarter against the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Caleb Williams would attempt to run for a touchdown. However, he would go down near the five-yard line with an apparent non-contact leg injury and be helped off the field by trainers while in pain.
Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent would replace the injured Williams. He would later be ruled out for the remainder of the game with a hamstring injury, avoiding a significant injury, but the recovery process could see him miss games. The Chicago Bears have a lot of expectations with Caleb Williams looking incredible in Year 2 of the Ben Johnson system.
He would finish Week 2 with a bit of a downgrade from his excellent performance to begin the season. Williams finishes completing 15 of 26 (57.7%) of his passes for 138 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception. He also ran the football five times for 42 yards (8.4 yards per carry). While the extent of the hamstring injury has not been known, this could mean he misses multiple games or even an injured reserve stint. Below are the next handful of games on the schedule:
Week 3: vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Monday Night Football)
Week 4: vs. New York Jets
Week 5: at Green Bay Packers
Week 6: at Atlanta Falcons
Week 7: vs. New England Patriots (Thursday Night Football)
It will be interesting to see how long Caleb Williams needs to recover from the hamstring injury and what it means for the Chicago Bears going forward in a tougher part of their schedule.
