The Indianapolis Colts needed to roll without past Kansas City Chiefs thorn Keenan Allen at wide receiver. But their wideout room just became thinner early on in the Sunday Night Football showdown. This time involving star wideout Alec Pierce.
Pierce needed to enter the medical tent following this play in Arrowhead Stadium.

It appears Pierce injured his left leg as he was seen hopping toward the sidelines.
SNF sideline reporter Melissa Stark then unveiled the severity of Pierce's ailment: Heel injury, with Pierce not putting weight on his foot as he left in a medical cart.
Pierce entered the primetime game with four receptions for 61 yards and zero touchdowns. But he delivered his first career 1,000-yard season too in 2025, which led to a massive payday.
The Colts signed him to a mega $116 million deal during March 2026. Pierce originally rose as a coveted free agent target following his breakout '25 under head coach Shane Steichen. He reportedly drew interest from the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers during the free agency period, but ultimately chose to stay in Indy.
Pierce developed a close relationship with quarterback Daniel Jones, hence the reasoning behind his return to Indy. Plus Pierce running it back with the Colts helped fuel renewed optimism for Indy returning to the postseason.
So now Pierce's 2026 season has hit a brief roadblock. He managed to catch one pass for 11 yards before the NFL Injury occurred. Indianapolis, however, handled itself well without Pierce in the lineup by jumping to an early 13-10 lead.
