Liverpool transfer news as an update is given on a possible January move for Yankuba Minteh, while the Reds could be set for a battle with Manchester City for a target

Liverpool has an extended break from action now as the international game takes center stage, and Andoni Iraola will have the chance to assess his team’s start to the season.
There are still question marks surrounding the makeup of the Spaniard’s squad, with the focus having been on Bradley Barcola during the summer while other areas took a back seat.
Some obvious areas have emerged as positions that will need some work though, and if the latest reports are to be believed, there is still the potential for Iraola and his side to revisit one of their attacking targets from the summer.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.
Yankuba Minteh (Brighton)
Yankuba Minteh could still join Liverpool in January, but a transfer will depend on him returning from injury before the turn of the year, Gambian journalist Foday Manneh has told Sport Witness.
Liverpool made two bids for Minteh during the summer window, but failed to convince Brighton to let the winger go, although Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler has hinted that the 22-year-old could still be on the move soon.
Manneh suggests that the transfer will depend on his fellow countryman making a speedy recovery, having been out since the start of the season, and the potential of another player leaving Anfield.

“Because Cody Gakpo leaving Liverpool in January is still a possibility. So, if Gakpo leaves Liverpool in January, then Yankuba can be the player then they can turn to,” he said.
“They can come back and then see whether they can get him. That depends on if Yankuba could return to football very soon and play that good two or three games. Once he does that, Liverpool coming back in January is very, very possible.”
Liverpool.com says: Given Gakpo's form so far, Minteh might not be at the forefront of Liverpool's mind anymore. It will be interesting to see how he performs when he does return from injury though.
Jon Aramburu (Real Sociedad)
Liverpool could face a battle with Manchester City for a new right-back, with TeamTalk claiming both sides are keen on Real Sociedad star Jon Aramburu.
Both teams are said to have scouted the Venezuela international, who is also capable of switching to left-back when needed, and it’s also claimed that Liverpool’s reports on the player have been positive.
Tottenham, Newcastle, Everton and Fulham are also said to have taken a look at the 24-year-old, who is under contract in Spain until 2030 and is said to have a release clause worth around $67 million (£50M).
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool will have a big decision to make in January when it comes to its right-backs. Conor Bradley still has some way to go before he can return from injury, and Jeremie Frimpong still hasn't convinced in the position.
Ronald Araujo has eased some of the concerns recently, but it would be a risk to go through the rest of the season with him as the first-choice there. Aramburu being able to play on either the right or left would also make him a very attractive prospect.
