KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WIBW) - Behind a vintage performance from QB Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs have another primetime win to start the 2026 NFL season.
The Chiefs overcame both a halftime deficit and game-tying fourth quarter touchdown to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 33-30 on Sunday Night Football.
Mahomes threw a pair of touchdowns in the 1st half: one to Travis Kelce and another to Xavier Worthy. A 1-yard TD toss from Mahomes to Jalen Royals gave Kansas City the lead in the 3rd quarter. Mahomes finished with 399 total yards on the day to go with the three passing touchdowns.
Colts running back Jonathan Taylor tied the game with his second rushing touchdown of the night with 5:37 remaining in the 4th quarter.
The two teams played a full overtime period, ending in a game-winning field goal by Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker.
KC’s defense struggled at times throughout the night, but a first half inteception of Colts QB Daniel Jones by Chiefs DB Kristian Fulton set Kansas City up for a score.
The Chiefs improve to 2-0 following the win. They’ll head to Miami to take on the Dolphins up next on Sunday, Sept. 27.
