Marco Rose admits he wasn’t expecting Liverpool to score a winner as Bournemouth’s winless start to the Premier League season continued.

‌

Alexander Isak scored the only goal shortly before the hour as the Reds earned a 1-0 triumph on Sunday to mark head coach Andoni Iraola’s first return since leaving the Vitality Stadium during the summer.

‌

While the Reds remain unbeaten under Iraola, his replacement Rose has yet to taste victory in the top flight despite wins in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

‌

And of the game, Rose said: “I think in life you always get what you deserve. Of course it wasn’t a game where you expected a winner. In one situation we didn’t defend well enough.

“In the first 20-25 minutes Liverpool weren't so much in our half. The details we have to change are crucial, we always concede goals and we don’t score as many as our opponent.

“We knew what they would do, they knew what we would do and maybe you could see that.

“We put a lot of effort into creating chances but today both teams didn’t have so many good chances. But we lost the game and that’s the point.

“It was one error, but it was one error too many. We aren’t getting points for playing well and having a good attitude and playing with confidence. We need to improve our behaviour in both boxes.”

Bournemouth came into the game on the back of a 2-1 Europa League win at Real Sociedad on Thursday evening.

Rose, though, refused to use the quick turnaround as an excuse for his team’s defeat.

“We missed some players but today everybody who started felt full of energy and had a good performance,” said the Cherries boss. “There were no need to do substitutions earlier.

“I couldn’t see any issue today with our game from Thursday. We went today with a lot of energy trying to score an equaliser at the end.

“Am I happy with the start I’ve made? We have three points from five games. That’s a fact.

“But I’m happy with the support of the club, the way we work the club provides a professional environment. And the team is top.

“I’m sure we will get the injured players back and we need them back to be more competitive in training and in the Premier League.

“Everyone has watched the games. it’s mostly the same. We sit here and talk about a good performance and in every game have a chance to win the game but to get points you need special situations in both boxes.”
