As the international break brings a temporary pause to domestic action, Andoni Iraola's next hurdle is a mid-October clash against Manchester City. The three-week break offers the Liverpool boss the chance to evaluate a whirlwind start to the campaign.

‌

He's witnessed several new signings adjusting to life on Merseyside - including Victor Munoz, who has taken to life in England like a duck to water so far in his debut season at Anfield.

‌

The Spaniard has been open about the biggest surprises he's encountered since his £34.5million move, while Alexis Mac Allister has drawn attention after receiving a public message from a former Reds favourite.

Victor Munoz has made an impressive start to his Liverpool career. As he continues to adapt to life in a new country, the Spain international has confessed that the physical demands of the Premier League have come as something of a shock.

Reflecting on the contrast in intensity and tempo between the Premier League and La Liga, Munoz told Spanish publication AS: "The level of play in England is extremely high. Every match is different and any opponent can seriously hurt you. Games are decided by the smallest details and winning isn't easy.

"We're on an upward trajectory, trying to follow the manager's plan and it's just a matter of time before we take off. But what has surprised me most, by far, is the physical level of all the teams. In Spain, the game is more positional and tactical, whilst here it's constant back-and-forth. The matches are much crazier and all the teams have very physically powerful players."

Alexis Mac Allister has been urged by Emile Heskey to let his performances do the talking if he hopes to secure a new Liverpool contract. The Argentine publicly expressed his frustration earlier this month at being overlooked for fresh terms, while midfield colleagues Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have recently put pen to paper on new deals.

The 27-year-old has responded to his own words with a string of impressive displays against Atletico Madrid and Tottenham. Heskey - who represented the Reds between 2000 and 2004 - maintained that Mac Allister must demonstrate his worth on the pitch to cement his long-term future at Anfield.

"Alexis Mac Allister has had to step up on the pitch because it wasn't great before that," the former England striker told PariuriX. "You can talk, but you've got to put some action in play as well. He's a fantastically talented player, we've seen it, but we didn't get to see it last season at Liverpool.

"We saw it at the World Cup but for Liverpool we didn't see it last season, so instead of him complaining about a new contract, go and show you deserve it through performances and the contract will come."

"That will come because when you start putting up numbers and unfortunately it's a numbers game now, Liverpool will be forced to look around and say no one can compete with these numbers.

"They will look around and say no one else who's younger is giving me that so let's give another year or let's give another two years or whatever it may be that he wanted. You can complain but you've gotta go and do it as well."
