The inactive players due to injury were IDL Warren Brinson (calf), and Javon Hargrave (concussion). OL John Williams, OL Travis Glover, and CB St. Juste were healthy scratches.

The Packers gained 63 Yards on 18 carries, a 3.5-yard average per carry, with a long of 12. Other than a handful of nice holes up the middle or to the left side, the line could not run block. The Packers had an EPA of -0.60 and a success rate of just 29%. They went three and out on their first three drives, gaining a net of 2 yards on those drives. They had 12 drives and converted just 1 of 10 third downs (1-9) and fourth downs.
The pass protection was very poor. Yes, the line only allowed 3 quarterback hits and 3 sacks. However, half the playbook looked to be in mothballs due to poor protection. There were no 7-step drops. Love identified mismatches early and chucked the ball up several times. Communication was much better. The Packers played more 11 personnel than last week despite the loss of Jayden Reed to a neck injury on the opening drive. I suspect that was in part an attempt to spread out the defense. The Packers deterred corner blitzes with quick passes to the receiver out in the flat. The Jets, despite presumably watching last week's game against Minnesota, only blitzed on 28% of dropbacks, which is the NFL average. The Jets got pressure on just 31% of dropbacks. which is below the NFL average. Then again, it is hard to get pressure when the ball comes out fast.
Pro Focus Football listed Jacob Monk with allowihng 2 pressures, both hurries. Rhyan, Burton, and Belton each allowed 1 hurry. PFF did not assign any pressures allowed to Donoan Jennings, Bako-Bewele or Aaron Banks. That does not pass my eye-test. Morgan gave up several pressures. Belton seemed pretty solid to me for much of the game but had some problems later in the game. Belton was called for two holding penalties and Monk (and Tucker Kraft) each added another holding penalty. Burton not surprisingly was decent in pass protection and not so good run blocking. He probably needs a year. He had to play because teams only have 8 linemen active and Banks, ZBB, and Jennings all left the game and did not return.
Bako-Bewele left the game with a serious injury. He apparently has been seen wearing an air cast. Donovan Jennings left the game with an injury to his hand, and Aaron Banks did not return to the field in the second half reportedly due to a toe injury. PFF liked Banks (76.3 grade) and Belton (69.5 grade).

Kraft caught 2 of 3 of 6 targets for 7 yards. He was called for a holding penalty. He fumbled and also recovered a fumble. No other tight end had any statistics. The Packers played 1.58 tight ends on average per play, almost exactly same number as last week (1.60). This week, they did a lot more blocking. Redman looked more comfortable. My understanding is that if a tight end chips and then run a route, that will be listed as a route run. Kraft ran 30 routes and had 3 targets, but I do not know how many times he chipped before executing a route.

Love completed 16 of 29 attempts (55%) for 145 yards (5.0 yards per attempt) with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. He finished with an 91.9 passer rating. He did average 8.6 yards of Adot, which is not bad for the NFL but is low for the Packers. PFF listed 5 drops as a team statistic. Golden dropped a pass that would have converted a third down on the first series, possibly setting a tone. Love probably should run a tad more. He had a lot of green ahead of him but he chucked it deep to Golden, who did not draw a third pass interference penalty. Love did hurt his hand, which he said went numb, so perhaps it is best that he was able to finish the game upright. Love had a fumble while trying to buy time in the pocket.

Chris Brooks gained 11 yards on 4 carries, a 2.80 average. He caught 1 of 2 targets for 15 yards. He allowed 1 quarterback hit on 4 pass protection snaps. Marshawn Lloyd gained 20 yards on 6 carries. He fumbled. He caught 2 passes for 6 yards, including a touchdown pass. Johnson gained 32 yards on 8 carries with a long of 12 through a big hole. He had no targets. He also fumbled. None of them were impressive.

Matthew Golden caught 4 of 6 targets for 58 yards. He also drew 2 pass interference penalties that added big yards to the offense. He did have a drop. Christian Watson caught 4 of 11 targets for 41 yards, and a touchdown, with a long of 20 yards. Reed caught 1 pass for 4 yards. Moore caught 2 of 3 targets for 6 yards. Melton had 1 target but no receptions. Sturdivant had no targets but had a tackle on special teams. Reed left with a neck injury. He will stay at a New York hospital. It has been reported that he has feeling in his extremities.
Defense:
The defense had a good day. During the first quarter. I remember wondering whether Geno Smith was meeting some of his teammates for the first time. The Jets scored 17 points and gained 285 total yards.

Brooks had 2 solo tackles and 3 pressures on 33 pass rushes. I kept thinking he was playing too many snaps and would not hold up against the run, but Josh Myers was opposite him. Brooks burned him several times while pass rushing even if some of them did not lead to a pressure. Campbell had a solo tackle but no pressures in 7 pass rushing snaps. Wyatt had 1 assisted tackle and 1 pressure in 29 pass rushing snaps. McClellan and Ford had no conventional statistics. PFF list no pressures in 15 and 19 pass rushing snaps, respectively.
The defensive linemen were stout but did not provide as much juice as one might expect from heavy doses of Brooks and Wyatt. The Packers played 2.25 true defensive linemen per play, on average after playing 2.42 on average last week. The Jets played a lot of 11 personnel, which the Packers countered with 72% nickel, up from 49% nickel last week.

Van Ness had 10 tackles (7 solo), including 3 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and 4 QB hits. PFF gave him 7 pressures in 33 pass rushes (2 unblocked), an excellent 21.2% pressure rate. He again had a couple of penalties that wiped stats off the page, though one of them was questionable. Dennis-Sutton had 6 tackles (2 solo), with a half sack and 2 quarterback hits. PFF listed him with 4 pressures in 21 pass rushing attempt, good for an excellent 23.2% pressure rate. Sorrell needs to up his game. He had 5 tackles (2 solo), a half sack and 1 QB hit. Sorrell had 2 pressures in 18 pass rushing snaps, an 11.1% pressure rate, which is nothing to write home about. Cox had 2 tackl;es (1 solo) and 2 pressures in 20 pass rushes, a 10% pressure rate. Gannon blitzed on 34% of the timem up from 30% last week. The pressure was definitely uneven and there were fairly long stretches where the pressure was lacking.

PFF listed Cooper with 3 pressures on 7 pass rushing snaps, a 42% pressure rate. He allowed all 5 targets to be completed for 75 yards (118 pass rating allowed). Franklin allowed 2 of 2 targets to be completed for a mere 8 yards, good for an 83 passer rating allowed. McDuffie and Niemann each had a solo tackle on special teams while Hopper had 2 solo tackles on teams.

The Packers played a ton of zone, about 87% zone altogether after playing zone 83% of the time last week. Evan Williams had a very good day. He had 10 tackles (7 solo), 1 tackle for loss, 1 QB hit, and 2 passes defensed. He allowed 2 of 4 passes to be completed for just 15 yard. He allowed a passer rating of 59.4. McKinney had 4 tackles (2 solo) and allowed 2 of 2 passes to be completed for 11 yards. Javon Bullard had 7 tackles (2 solo), 2 tackles for loss and 2 passes defensed. He had a stupid taunting penalty which led to no harm. This is a good safety room. Olapado cannot get on the field.
Nixon had 7 tackles (6 solo) and 5 of 7 passes to be completed for 64 yards. However, he had a couple of penalties which would push his yards allowed to almost 100. Cisse had 5 (4 solo) with 1 QB hits, and half a sack. Cisse allowed 2 of 3 passes to be completed for 16 yards. Valentine allowed one pass to be completed for 2 yards. Hadden had 2 tackles on special teams.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Skyy Moore a beautiful 63-yard punt return and two other pleasant punt returns. He also had a 43-yard kickoff return and avraged 29 yards overall. Smack made all of his extra points and two short field goals, including a 26-yard game winner. Whelan had 2 monster punts but also had a shank. He finished with a 54-yard average (with 3 downed inside the 20, and one touchback. The coverage units were fine.
PENALTIES/REFEREES:
The Packers committed 13 penalties for a whopping 133 yards. New York was called for 14 penalties for 156 yards. The penalties were called on the Packers mostly because the committed penalties.
