Alisson Becker believes Liverpool are showing they can adapt to problems posed by opponents as he praised the impact of new signing Jeremy Jacquet.

‌

The Reds continued their unbeaten start to life under new head coach Andoni Iraola with a narrow 1-0 win at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

‌

Liverpool struggled during the opening quarter before growing into the game with Alexander Isak striking the only goal shortly before the hour.

‌

Iraola's side came from behind to draw against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest earlier in the season and reversed an early deficit to beat Atletico Madrid in their Champions League opener a fortnight ago.

And Alisson reckons Liverpool are gaining confidence from their ability to scrap their way to points this season.

"It was really important," he said of the win. "Every Premier League match away from home is tough to play. You have to fight a lot, and this wasn't any different for us.

"It wasn't the cleanest performance we've had, but those games if you don't play so well and you still win it with a clean sheet, it gives confidence for the team for the rest of the season.

"We have to improve a lot on the ball, sometimes without the ball as well.

"But we proved in the second half to win games (you have) to adapt to the opponents and what they are doing and to the difficulties you are having in a match and then fight against it and try to get the results."

Jacquet, making only his fifth Premier League appearance since arriving from Rennes in a potential £60million deal in the summer, was impressive at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk as Liverpool kept a third successive top-flight clean sheet for the first time since the start of Arne Slot's reign two years ago.

And Alisson said: "Jeremy played really well, Virgil, the back four, Milos (Kerkez) and Ronald (Araujo), the midfielders helped us a lot defensively.

"Jeremy has so much quality of course, it's not the hardest job in the world to play alongside Virgil van Dijk, Virgil helped him a lot, Ronald as well is someone who came to make us more solid defensively and he's delivering as well.

"We are really happy to have them on our side."

Bournemouth managed only two shots on target but Alisson ensured a shutout with a smart save down low from Evanilson at his near post during the first half.

And he said to LFC TV: "At big clubs sometimes you don't have much to do, and then you need to be ready to make one save that can help the team.

"That's part of my job and I'm there for it. I'm happy that it contributed to three points and to get the clean sheet.

"Well done to the defenders and the team as well, it was a really good fight."
