Everton in talks with club to play behind-closed-doors game in the coming days

Everton are reportedly in talks with Championship club Blackburn Rovers to play a behind-closed-doors friendly game during the ongoing international break.

Everton manager David Moyes wants to keep his squad in shape over the next two weeks following an undefeated start to the 2026-27 season for the Hill Dickinson Stadium club.

The Toffees have started the new Premier League campaign with two victories and three draws.

They have also booked a spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup following wins over Preston North End and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the second and third rounds, respectively.

Everton have ten players on international duty, with Jordan Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite with England.

Vitalii Mykolenko is with Ukraine, Jake O’Brien is with the Republic of Ireland, Braiden Graham is with Northern Ireland, while Brennan Johnson and Tom King are both with Wales.

Tyler Dibling and Tyrique George are both with the England under-21s, while Harrison Armstrong is with the under-20s.

The Merseyside club are back in action on October 11, and Moyes wants to keep the other members of the squad not involved in international duty engaged during the 22-day break.

Everton take on Chelsea and Arsenal after their trip to Hull City after the international break, and the manager will be desperate to get something from those games.

The date for the game against Blackburn is unknown, but it is likely to be later this week or early next week.

The Blues could also look to play with another club before the end of the break.
