Ifeanyi Ndukwe was back on the bench for Levante on Sunday after floods denied him a midweek start, but the Liverpool loanee still produced a strong cameo.
Ndukwe had been named in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s home clash with Athletic Club, only for the game to be called off at the last minute due to severe weather.
The tunnel at Levante’s Estadio Ciudad de Valencia was completely flooded and the decision to initially go ahead with the fixture was widely criticised.
Back in action on Sunday with a trip to Villarreal, there was disappointment from those on Merseyside as Ndukwe then returned to the bench.
He came on with 27 minutes left, and though it came in a 3-1 loss – with Villarreal scoring their third through Georges Mikautadze while he was on the pitch – the Liverpool loanee still made an impact.
Per FotMob, Ndukwe won four of his five duels, including a 100 percent success rate on the ground, while making four defensive contributions in 27 minutes.
The 18-year-old was tidy in possession, completing 19 of his 22 attempted passes (86%), and was heavily involved with 31 touches during his short time on the pitch.
So far, Levante head coach Luis Castro has been reluctant to break up his centre-back pairing of Adrian de la Fuenta and Aissa Mandi, but it will be interesting to see if he changes his plans in the coming months.
Ndukwe will now join up with the Austria U21s for the international break, knowing he is now eligible for a UK work permit having debuted on loan.

It was a largely disappointing weekend for Liverpool’s loanees on the whole, with 10 of 12 featuring but only one of those – Calum Scanlon, who came off the bench late on for Cardiff – tasting victory.
Goalkeepers Lucca Brughmans (Genk), Armin Pecsi (TSV Hartberg), Kornel Misciur (Leek Town) and right-back Calvin Ramsay (St Mirren) were the only starters.
Harvey Elliott was limited to 21 minutes off the bench in defeat for Valencia, while Kieran Morrison was unable to make an impact as a second-half substitute for Sheffield Wednesday in their 0-0 draw with Stockport.
Keyrol Figueroa was left out of the squad as Port Vale lost 2-0 at Walsall and Amara Nallo missed his fifth consecutive game for HJK Helsinki through injury.
