Cole Palmer set to withdraw from England squad in Chelsea injury concern

Cole Palmer is set to withdraw from England’s squad after suffering a minor muscle problem.

The Chelsea attacker had been recalled by Thomas Tuchel for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures after missing out on England’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Palmer played the full 90 minutes during Friday’s 3-0 defeat at Brentford.

However, Reuters reports that the 24-year-old is now expected to miss the international window and remain with Chelsea.

Cole Palmer gets valuable Chelsea recovery window

Palmer has started the season in excellent form, producing four goals and two assists in seven appearances.

The Guardian reports that the problem is considered minor.

That should make the international break valuable rather than alarming.

Palmer can remain at Cobham and work with Chelsea’s medical staff instead of travelling for England’s four Nations League fixtures.

The latest situation should also be reflected in our updated Chelsea injury news hub.

Chelsea do not return to Premier League action until Bournemouth visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday 10 October at 3pm BST, a fixture confirmed by the Premier League.

There is no confirmed return date yet.

For now, Chelsea have almost three weeks to get Palmer fully ready.
