Liverpool have "optimism" that "deal can be agreed": Reds are desperate to extend contract

**Rio Ngumoha is set for a new contract and a regular starting role under Andoni Iraola, according to reports, with the teenager said to be happy at Anfield.**

Confirmed reports of a Bayern Munich attempt to sign Rio Ngumoha in the months leading up to the summer transfer window and a fresh approach in the summer, sparked concerns around the prodigy’s future with the Reds.

There have also been rumours recently of Arsenal interest.

However, there are currently no signs that he will leave Liverpool in the foreseeable future.

He will soon put pen to paper on a new deal, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool/liverpool-star-rio-ngumoha-set-for-new-contract-and-regular-starting-role).

They report that “Rio Ngumoha is happy at Liverpool, is expected to get regular starts this season and is not set to push for a move to Arsenal anytime soon.

Ngumoha is on the Gunners’ radar after a breakthrough into the Liverpool first team over the last 12 months.

They are keen to tempt the teen star to North London with the promise of regular game time, consistent battles for silverware and a pathway to being one of the world’s biggest stars.

The 18-year-old has been handed increased minutes by Andoni Iraola so far this season, but is out of contract in 2028.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, Pete O’Rourke explained: _“Obviously, Liverpool are desperate to keep hold of Ngumoha, and the player himself, I understand, is happy at Liverpool as well and is set to get regular starts this season._

_“When you get top young players like this, they’re always going to attract interest from other clubs, but Liverpool are confident that his long-term future will be at Anfield…there is optimism I think on both sides that they can get this deal agreed.”_

Keeping Ngumoha at the club is essential. Liverpool may have just spent £123m to sign Bradley Barcola, who will start the lion’s share of games on the left wing, but Ngumoha is set to be a superstar.

The teenager has all the tools to become a truly top forward.

It would be tragic to see that happen at Arsenal or another Premier League rival, especially when Andoni Iraola is the best Premier League manager to maximise his potential.

The Spaniard proved this with Eli Junior Kroupi and Rayan last season.
