Report: Liverpool watching Premier League star closely as potential Kerkez replacement

**Liverpool are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell, according to reports, amid concerns over Milos Kerkez’s future at the club.**

Before we read the report, I must say that I like Milos Kerkez. Yes, he’s a bit mental and can be brainless at times, but his chaotic style of play is perfect for Andoni Iraola.

It was the Spaniard, after all, who elevated the Hungarian fullback to a Premier League Team of the Season nomination in 2025, but he does need to improve at Anfield.

Kerkez has been one of the poorer performers so far this season, but his role under Arne Slot was so confusing that I wouldn’t be surprised if it will take time for him to shake off any lingering effects of the Slot era.

Yet, Liverpool are doing their due diligence, and this has led them to keeping a closer eye on Mitchell.

According to a report from [Football Inside](https://www.footballinsider247.com/manchester-united/liverpool-join-race-to-sign-tyrick-mitchell-after-contract-twist)r, Liverpool and Chelsea “are among the clubs” that have entered the race to sign Mitchell next summer.

The 27-year-old will be out of contract in 2028, and so Palace will need to sell him this summer if he does not sign a contract extension before the end of the 2026/27 season.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/manchester-united/liverpool-join-race-to-sign-tyrick-mitchell-after-contract-twist) that Mitchell’s performances for Palace “have attracted plenty of interest in his services, especially on a free.”

_“Man United aren’t going to be the only club interested in signing Mitchell,”_ Brown told Football Insider.

_“For any club looking for a left-back in the Premier League, there are not many options who come up with such consistent performances as Mitchell has for Crystal Palace._

_“He impresses every single week, gets on with his job, he’s terrific defensively and he’s improved the attacking side of his game as well, he’s a top, top player._

_“So when you look at those top clubs, you’ve got Liverpool where Milos Kerkez has been questioned a bit and maybe isn’t as consistent as they’d like him to be._

_“Then you’ve got Chelsea, who are always going to be interested in this type of deal where they can bring a quality player in without having to spend big._

_“Either of those clubs could make a move for Mitchell, because as I say, he will tick a number of boxes for them and could be a very good addition.”_
