Thomas Tuchel now seriously considering inviting 16yo Arsenal star to link up with England squad

England manager Thomas Tuchel is considering giving Arsenal youngster Max Dowman his first taste of training with the Three Lions, according to the Sun.

The Arsenal academy graduate is currently with the England under-19s, but his performances for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have impressed Tuchel.

The 16-year-old has made just two appearances for the Emirates Stadium club across all competitions this term.

Dowman was helpless as Arsenal lost 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday having spent just nine minutes on the pitch.

However, the teenage sensation was in fine form in the Gunners’ Carabao Cup 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town last Tuesday, bagging a brace.

The Gunners star made ten appearances for the North London club last term, weighing in with one goal and one assist in six Premier League games.

Tuchel admires Dowman, refusing to rule him out of making a late run into his World Cup squad in the summer.

While that did not happen, the Arsenal teenager is likely to receive a senior call-up in the next 12 months ahead of Euro 2028.

Dowman could get an opportunity to impress the German first-hand after five players withdrew from the squad.

Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Tino Livramento have all recently pulled out of the four Nations League matches.

Tuchel had already decided to take a look at some of the players of the age-grade squads training at St George’s Park this week.

Dowman is now hoping to land an England training call-up, and a senior call-up could even be on the cards if more players pull out of the squad.

England’s under-21s, under-20s, under-18s and under-17s are also training at England’s headquarters this week as they prepare for their international games.

The under-19s will face Ireland in a friendly at St George’s Park on Friday, and while Dowman is preparing for that game, he could get the chance to train with the senior squad.

The Three Lions take on Spain in a Nations League game at Wembley on Saturday night before facing the Czech Republic next Tuesday.

They play Croatia on October 3 afterwards before returning to Wembley to face the Czech Republic again on October 6.
