Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks have achieved something many teams or players struggle to do for many years if ever in reaching the NBA Finals in 2024, but it seems that their union is set to expire soon due to differing timelines.
According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, many people around the league are asking questions about Irving's situation with the Mavericks and the team centering itself around 19-year-old Cooper Flagg.
"Question that's being asked around the league is how long is this fit with Kyrie and the Mavericks. And it's not because the Mavericks don't love Kyrie. They do. It's not because Kyrie doesn't love Dallas and hasn't enjoyed his experience there. He has, but they're building around a 19 year old prodigy in Cooper Flagg," MacMahon explained.
"So could there come a time when it makes sense for both sides to find a contender for Kyrie to go to? These are the kind of things that people around the league will be monitoring leading up to the trade deadline."

New Mavericks GM Masai Ujiri and his relationship with Irving could play a part in the player potentially being moved, per ESPN's Marc Spears.
"Masai also has a really good relationship, as you mentioned, with Kyrie Irving. I think it's the kind of relationship where if Kyrie says, 'hey, Masai, like, this isn't for me', I think they could work together to get something done," Spears revealed.
"I don't think would be something ugly. I think there would be interest in Kyrie if he's as healthy as he looks."
