The latest update came Monday from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reported that Reed is returning to Green Bay after spending the night in New Jersey while the Packers determine the appropriate next steps.
Schefter wrote on X, “Packers WR Jayden Reed injured his back Sunday, per source. After spending the night in New Jersey, he soon will be returning to Green Bay, with the team still is evaluating the best treatment and recovery time frame.”

The report provides a clearer picture of what comes next, but it does not establish a timetable for Reed’s return. The Packers will continue evaluating the injury before determining his treatment and recovery plan.
The initial scene was concerning. Reed was injured on the second offensive play against the Jets after catching a short pass from Jordan Love and taking a hard hit from New York linebacker Demario Davis. Medical personnel stabilized him and transported him from the field.

Reed provided his own update on social media, offering some reassurance after the frightening sequence at MetLife Stadium. He wrote on X, “Doing much better, appreciate all the prayers and support.”
The Packers had previously said Reed had feeling and movement in all of his extremities, while head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed after the game that the receiver would remain in the New Jersey area overnight rather than travel home with the team.
Reed’s absence was felt immediately against New York, particularly because he exited during the opening series. The 26-year-old entered his fourth NFL season after recording 142 receptions for 1,881 yards and 15 touchdowns through his first 42 games, according to the latest available career totals.
Green Bay now turns its attention to Reed’s evaluation and the treatment plan that follows. The Packers are scheduled to face the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, making the coming days important for determining Reed’s availability.
