Here are four other takeaways from O'Connell's press conference:
The Vikings Week 2 win was a full-team effort, and O'Connell shouted out a couple players whose impact maybe flew a little under the radar.
After giving game balls Sunday night to kicker Will Reichard and punter Brett Thorson, he additionally highlighted long snapper Andrew DePaola.
"I think 'DePo' has to be right up there with them," O'Connell said. "You just come to expect your long snapper — it never gets mentioned enough, but in those circumstances you saw how it affected the operation on the other side a few times, and especially the blocked field goal. So, DePo deserves some absolute love."
O'Connell then tipped his cap to Brian O'Neill's physicality after a limited week of practice and to Jordan Addison's impact as a blocker.
"His time's coming as far as registering the things he's capable of in the \[receiving\] stat column," he said of Addison. "Had some chances over the top yesterday, but it wasn't the type of game where you were going to be launching it 55, 60 yards down the field. But his willingness to go do some things in the run game, specifically with Jauan \[Jennings\] out. And then, really, he had a punch-out on what could have been an interception on that first drive."
