Chicago Bears Land Tough Caleb Williams Take from Dave Portnoy 1

The Chicago Bears went through a major injury scare on Sunday afternoon during their game against the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings. Caleb Williams went down with a hamstring injury. He was carted off of the field in tears following the injury.

Williams having such a strong reaction to the injury made many think that the Bears could be without their star quarterback for an extended period of time. However, it sounds like they avoided a severe injury and have not even ruled Williams out for Week 3 on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Following the news that the injury wasn’t too serious, Williams has been the victim of many jokes across social media.

A mild hamstring strain can certainly be painful. But, to leave the field like he had a season-ending injury was a bit dramatic. Dave Portnoy, the owner of Barstool Sports, pointed out that fact that he may not have even needed to leave the game against the Vikings.

Dave Portnoy Doesn’t Hold Back About Chicago Bears, Caleb Williams

In a post on X, Portnoy made his opinion about the injury crystal clear. His take was one that many agreed with.

“I think it’s fair to ask whether Caleb should have stayed in the game. I know a hockey player wouldnt have been carted off with a tweaked hammy,” Portnoy wrote.

“Bears probably win if he plays hurt. That division game could have playoff implications. Let’s hope it doesnt come back to bite them.”

Unfortunately for Chicago, the team ended up falling short and losing to the Vikings by a final score of 9-3. Williams leaving the game was a major turning point that very well might have decided the disappointing outcome for the Bears.

Throughout the course of the game, Williams ended up completing 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 138 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. He also ran five times for 42 yards.

Only time will tell how long Williams will be sidelined due to the hamstring injury. At least for now, it sounds like the injury isn’t too serious.
