Philadelphia is bringing back one of its best.
The Eagles are signing tight end Zach Ertz to the practice squad, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday.
Ertz, who is coming off a torn ACL suffered while playing for the Commanders last season, began his career as a 2013 second-round draft pick by the Eagles. He racked up 579 receptions, 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns for Philly over a nine-season stretch that included three Pro Bowl campaigns and a Super Bowl victory.
He then spent three years with the Cardinals and a pair of seasons in Washington. He currently sits at 8,592 receiving yards and 57 TDs on 825 career catches.

There had been rumblings that a reunion for Ertz and the Eagles might be on the table, and recent injuries in the tight end room likely made the decision a little easier. Dallas Goedert suffered a sprained MCL on Sunday and will miss some time, while rookie Eli Stowers is currently on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
Thus, Ertz is coming back to the practice squad, healthy and with a very real chance to make an impact for the Eagles.
He also has an opportunity to make some franchise history in a hurry, as the 35-year-old returns only 11 receptions shy of the Eagles' all-time catch record currently held by Harold Carmichael (589).
Ertz is sure to hear the cheers from the Philly faithful assuming he jumps to the active roster and sees the field, and he'll receive yet another ovation should he end up stamping his name in the record books.
